Supporting Women Through Perimenopause with Nutritional Therapy,

Myofascial Release work and Shiatsu.
Perimenopause is more than a hormonal shift, it’s a profound transition that touches every layer of a woman’s being. Sleep may falter, emotions may surge, and the sense of self can become unfamiliar. This phase, however challenging, holds the potential for deep renewal.
Through nutritional therapy and Myofascial Energetic Release (MER) work and Shiatsu, Lioba offers a grounded, compassionate approach to help women reconnect with their bodies, restore balance, and rediscover vitality.
By supporting blood sugar, gut and liver health, and adrenal resilience, alongside gentle, breath-led bodywork and deep acupressure and holding based on Chinese medicine we can ease the turbulence and nurture a sense of rootedness and radiance.

How Stress Fuels Oestrogen Imbalance in Perimenopause
Let’s talk about stress, our resilience to stress goes down as we enter this transition and it’s not just about feeling frazzled or overwhelmed.
During perimenopause, stress can quietly throw our hormones off balance, especially when it comes to oestrogen dominance.
When cortisol (your stress hormone) stays high for too long, it can compromise the production of progesterone, leaving oestrogen unchecked.
This imbalance can show up as mood swings, stubborn weight gain, poor sleep, and even thyroid issues.
Stress also drains your body of key nutrients like magnesium and B vitamins the very ones you need to detox excess oestrogen and support adrenal health. That’s why combining nutritional therapy with gentle, breath-led bodywork like MER or Shiatsu can be so powerful.
Top tips - Rethinking Exercise During Perimenopause
When it comes to movement, more isn’t always better especially during perimenopause. Pushing through intense workouts like daily HIIT sessions or marathon training can spike cortisol, your stress hormone, and if life’s already stressful, that extra cortisol can tip your hormones further out of balance. Instead, think of exercise as nourishment.
Brisk walks in nature
Dancing
Swimming
Strength training
These can energize without overwhelming. And yoga? It’s like a moving meditation calming your nervous system, syncing breath with movement, and helping lower cortisol naturally. The goal is to move in ways that leave you feeling revitalised, not depleted.
What to expect in a session with Lioba
In MER the client is encouraged to use the breath throughout the session and to remain present so that they can respond to the touch being given (i.e unwind consciously).
Emotions and trauma can be stored in the fascia and this slow work paired with the breath can facilitate the release of stuck energy that is both emotional and physical in nature.
MER is done on the skin whereas Shiatsu is received clothed on a futon and also works with energy but uses the system of meridians from Chinese medicine.
